REFERENCES

Brenda,

Thank you very much for all the assistance and time you gave me on sizing and ordering my new Allegany saddle.  I couldn't be happier and I know that Shane loves it by the way he was gaiting yesterday when we rode with it for the first time.  His gait was fantastic and I know it is all due to the saddle.

The workmanship on the saddle, reins and headstall are spectacular!
You can tell the pride and love that went into building everything was from someone that has a very special talent.

I will be sending everyone I know that has a gaited horse to you for their next saddle.  Please feel free to use me for a reference for any potential customer that is looking at an Allegany.

For those wishing to purchase one of Brenda and Dave's horses, I'd like to tell you my experience with the Oberts.

I was searching for a horse for my non riding husband who at 67 yrs young, decided he wanted to trail ride.  I already had a horse I used for trail rides but I was somewhat concerned for my husband because he was an inexperienced rider. I explained everything to Brenda concerning my husband. She knew I needed a level headed, brave, non spooky horse for Leo   After many conversations with Brenda, I chose a TWH named Cooper for my husband.  Brenda worked so close with me for exactly what I needed for my husband.  Cooper has been a delight to us both and he is everything Brenda said he would be and so much more. He has such a loving personality

Thank you so much Brenda and Dave

Thank you so much for the great horses!! They are exactly as you described, calm , gentle and well broke. The saddles fit great as well. As my business grows and I need more horses and tack, you will be the person I will call.

Thanks again for all the help.

I bought Gemma, a registered Tennesse Walking Horse mare, from Brenda 3 or 4 years ago.  Everything that she told me about the mare was 100% accurate from how she would ride to how she would be around my other horses.  Brenda had other horses for sale; however she was able to assess my riding ability and needs and fit me with the perfect horse.  As a first time gaited horse owner, Brenda also took the time to educate me about the differences in riding a gaited horse as opposed to a quarter horse.  She has been an invaluable resource.  In my 35 plus years of owning and buying horses, I have never had a better experience.

I am very impressed with my continued relationship with The Double O Ranch and its owners David and Brenda Obert.  In my experiences these individuals are excellent when it comes to the care and placement of their horses.  They give sound advice (although I did not personally take it in the beginning) and are always available to answer questions I might have concerning my animals.

In March of 2006 I purchased Double O Shyboy, a Kentucky Mountain Horse, who, at the time, was a coming 2-year-old.  I am a novice when it comes to certain aspects of riding and the Obert’s realized this and tried to persuade me to make a safer decision when it came to the purchase of my first horse.  Although I did not follow their advice, they worked with Shy and I through Parelli videos, books, trainers, and their facilities to help me mold Shy into the horse he is today.  Through patience and training we have successfully created a horse I will be able to enjoy for years to come.

After purchasing Shy and moving to a much larger home/farm, I realized I would need a buddy horse.  Brenda and Dave suggested a much older gelding for placement.  Brown-R-Nells came to our home with Shy in September of 2006.  He was a perfect match for my husband who had never ridden before.  Nells was the “rock” that Shy could stand on when feeling nervous or scared.  Having Nells on our farm helped Shy through some of his more spooky inclinations.  Sadly, Nells passed in 2007, but not before teaching my husband and I, that bullet- proof horses do exist.

In May of 2007, Chewy, a POA was the next placement on my list.  Brenda and Dave felt that he would be a solid horse for my husband as well as a great “buddy” for Shy.  They are now BEST friends and will not go any where without the other.  Chewy has also helped Shy through his more temperamental coming-four-year-old stages.  He has taught Shy to be aware of and respect other individual’s space.

The Obert’s tack store is also a wonderful place to get quality tack and solid information.  The Obert’s do not sell anything that does not meant their personal standards for tack.  If they would not use something on their own horses, they don’t carry it in their store.  I have ridden in many different types of saddles and with many different types of bridle and bit.  The Obert’s worked with me to find a combination that works perfectly for my horse and I.  I can honestly say that I have never ridden a more comfortable saddle than the one I purchased at the Double O Tack Store.

Throughout all of the above placements as well as training and transport, the Obert’s have always been forthcoming with information regarding each of their horses.  In the 3 years that I have dealt with the Obert’s, I have never felt as if I were being cheated or lied to just to make a sale.  These individuals are honest with their opinions and will not shy from telling the honest truth, even if it may hurt at first!!!  I know that I will not make any equine/equestrian purchases in the future without first checking with Dave and Brenda for their expert opinion and advice.
